Welcome to my blog, where I sort through all the daily noise in the financial markets and highlight one - and only one - development I think matters. Especially in the current environment, when markets can be nearly euphoric one day, then depressed the next, it is challenging, fun, and maybe even a little useful, to pick out one daily occurrence that represents significant change - for good or bad.

I have over 35 years of experience in finance and business, examining global economic trends, strategy, corporate finance and portfolio management.  With a Masters degree (MSc.) in development economics, I began my career as an economist in the international department of Canada’s central bank, the Bank of Canada, in Ottawa.  Since then, I have held corporate positions as Vice President of Finance, Chief Operating Officer and board member.  

When I'm not following daily happenings around the world, I maintain an active running regimen and piano practice.  Most importantly, my wife and I are parents of 4 terrific kids.
